Staff at The Stable School, part of the Melrose Education Group, are celebrating their latest Ofsted inspection, which recognises the school’s caring ethos, strong leadership and broad, ambitious curriculum.
Inspectors found that “pupils at The Stable School feel listened to and well cared for” and that “pupils feel safe and want to learn. They value the warm and respectful relationships they have with trusted adults at the school.” The report highlights that these positive relationships underpin an environment where learners can thrive both academically and personally.
The inspection praises the quality and breadth of education on offer, noting that “the school offers a broad and ambitious curriculum” and “has raised the profile of reading in the school.” Inspectors also commended the leadership team, observing that “leaders within the school have galvanised staff and have created systems that enable them to work effectively with pupils.”
Personal development is a clear strength, with Ofsted reporting that “the school’s personal, social, health and economic curriculum underpins all its work. Pupils learn about their rights and how to keep themselves safe and healthy.” The school’s commitment to nurturing confidence and independence beyond the classroom was also celebrated: “The school offers a wide range of extra-curricular activities, listening carefully to what pupils want to do. These activities help pupils to build confidence and resilience, as well as learn new skills and contribute to the wider community.”
Inspectors further recognised the importance placed on future aspirations, noting that “the school provides a rich programme of careers information, advice and guidance.”
Tracey Storey, CEO, Founder and Executive Chair of Melrose Education, said:
