Kingfisher School Celebrates Silver School Games Mark Award for 2024/25

Kingfisher School in Weymouth, part of the Melrose Education group, is celebrating after being awarded the Silver School Games Mark Award for 2024/25.

The award, part of the national School Games programme, recognises schools for their commitment to developing sporting opportunities, physical activity, and competition for all learners. Achieving Silver demonstrates Kingfisher School’s dedication to inclusive sport and the positive impact of physical education on wellbeing and personal development.

Kingfisher School provides education and support for children and young people with special educational needs. Staff have worked hard to ensure that every learner has access to a wide range of physical activities, from structured PE lessons and adapted sports to enrichment sessions that build teamwork, resilience, and self-confidence.

Julie Jeanes, Principal at Kingfisher School, said:

“We are incredibly proud to have achieved the Silver School Games Mark. Physical activity plays such an important role in supporting our learners’ wellbeing and development, and this award reflects the enthusiasm and teamwork shown by our learners and staff. We’re excited to keep building on this success and to continue providing engaging and inclusive sporting opportunities for everyone at Kingfisher.”

The recognition celebrates Kingfisher’s commitment to promoting a healthy, active lifestyle and its belief that every learner, regardless of need or ability, should have the opportunity to enjoy the benefits of sport.
