Belgrave School Celebrates Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Inspection

Melrose Education is delighted to announce that Belgrave School has successfully met all standards in its recent Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) inspection, which took place from 9th – 11th September 2025.

The inspection report highlights the school’s outstanding leadership, curriculum provision, and commitment to the wellbeing of all learners. Directors and senior leaders were praised for their ability to support and challenge staff effectively, ensuring that high standards are consistently maintained.

Louisa Skinner, Executive Principal of Belgrave School, said:

“We are thrilled with the inspection outcome, which reflects the dedication and professionalism of every member of our team. The report acknowledges that our leaders “carefully tailor the curriculum to meet pupils’ individual, and often complex needs”, and that “through nurturing and therapeutic approaches, pupils’ confidence and self-esteem grow so that they can form positive relationships with classmates and staff.”

The inspection recognised the school’s holistic approach to education, emphasising both academic and personal development. Highlights from the report include that “senior and subject leaders are instrumental in developing the curriculum, personal development, and teaching”, and that “the personal, social, health and economic education (PSHE) curriculum is well planned and effective in developing pupils’ understanding of social and economic matters”, with statutory RSE requirements fully met.

Tracey Storey, Founder, CEO, and Executive Chair of Melrose Education, said:

“We are incredibly proud of Belgrave School. The report confirms that leaders “act on their self-evaluation effectively” and that pupils are supported to achieve their best, both academically and personally. The school provides an environment where learners are encouraged to develop confidence, communication skills, and a strong understanding of respect and responsibility.”

The ISI also noted the school’s excellence in pastoral care and safeguarding. “Clear behavioural expectations and effective behaviour management ensure that pupils behave well and are kind and respectful towards each other and staff”, while “leaders consider safeguarding in all aspects of their work”. Pupils also receive meaningful guidance when selecting examination subjects and applying to further education, supporting their smooth transition to the next stage of learning.

Belgrave School continues to demonstrate the Melrose Education commitment to providing high-quality, inclusive education tailored to the needs of every learner, with robust leadership, expert teaching, and a nurturing community at its heart.
