The Orchard School Achieves School Games Bronze Mark Award 2024/25

The Orchard School in Grimsby is delighted to announce that it has been awarded the School Games Bronze Mark for the 2024/25 academic year. The School Games Mark, a government-led award facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust, recognises schools for their commitment to developing competition and promoting physical activity both within the school and the wider community.

The school’s sporting achievements this year have been wide-ranging, including: a successful Sports Day, multiple competitive fixtures, the introduction of sensory circuits, break-time, lunchtime, and after-school clubs, partnerships with Grimsby Town FC, tennis and boxing workshops, achieving 60 Active Minutes, and recognising Sporting Weekly Stars. With a large number of learners competing in local inter-school competitions, the school is extremely proud of all its learners, including those who contributed as volunteers, leaders, and officials, helping to make competitions possible.

School Principal Steven Broderick said:

“We are thrilled to receive the School Games Bronze Mark in recognition of the dedication, enthusiasm, and sporting spirit of our learners. This achievement would not have been possible without the commitment of Oliver Willetts, our PE Lead, Craig Dobbs, our School Games Organiser, and all our staff who support sport at every level. It’s wonderful to celebrate the hard work and achievements of everyone involved, from participants to leaders, and we look forward to building on this success when we apply again in 2026.”

As part of the award process, the school demonstrated excellence across participation, competition, workforce, and clubs, reflecting the hard work and commitment of the whole school community.
