The Stable School is proud to announce its achievement of the Rights Respecting Schools Bronze Award, marking a significant milestone in its commitment to embedding children’s rights into its ethos and curriculum.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA), developed by UNICEF UK, recognises schools that place children’s rights at the heart of their culture, ensuring that learners feel valued, respected, and empowered. The Bronze Award, also known as “Rights Committed”, is the first step in this journey, introducing the three core strands of the RRSA into the school community and securing the dedication of the senior leadership team.
Denise Carpenter, Principal of The Stable School, expressed her pride in the school’s commitment to creating a culture where children’s rights are embedded in everyday practice:
“This award is a reflection of our unwavering dedication to fostering an environment where every learner feels heard, respected, and empowered. We are incredibly grateful to Laura Easter, who has led this initiative with passion and determination, ensuring that The Stable School continues to be a place where inclusivity and respect thrive.”
The impact of this award on a school is profound, fostering a culture of respect, inclusivity, and empowerment. Schools that adopt a rights-respecting approach often see improvements in learner relationships, self-esteem, attendance, and attainment, as well as a reduction in prejudiced attitudes.
Melrose Education, who own The Stable School, strongly supports initiatives that prioritise learner wellbeing and inclusivity. Tracey Storey, Executive Chair, CEO and Founder of Melrose Education, highlighted the significance of this achievement:
“At Melrose Education, we believe that every child deserves to learn in an environment that champions their rights and nurtures their potential. The Stable School’s commitment to the Rights Respecting Schools Award is a testament to the incredible work being done to create a culture of mutual respect and empowerment. Congratulations to the entire team for this well-deserved recognition.”
With the Bronze Award now secured, The Stable School is looking ahead to the next stage of its RRSA journey, continuing to develop a school community where children’s rights remain at the heart of everything they do.
